Measures Against Bird Flu

Recently, Bird Flu has been the biggest threat in Asia. Although the situation is not that serious as SARS that we have a few years ago, Singaporeans should not ignore the fact that we should take necessary precautions so that Singapore would not have a sudden outbreak of Bird Flu. More and more people in Southeast Asia are infected and hospitalized, and even died from Bird Flu, this shows that Bird Flu have become the greatest problem that the government need to face and solve.

One of the most common precautions is to take vaccinations. I do agree that taking vaccinations do help in protecting yourself from affecting Bird Flu. However, some vaccines cost quite expensive, this would in turn cause a problem for those people who have low income as they may not be able to buy those vaccines and therefore unable to protect themselves from Bird Flu. Another common precaution is to wear a mask. As Bird Flu is passed through air, a mask is definitely needed to be worn in public places if one is in an affected country.

Individuals should also do their part in protecting themselves against Bird Flu. They should take good care of themselves, eat healthy, and make sure that their immune system is functioning efficiently as immune system is the natural defence against all illnesses and diseases. In additional, as Bird Flu occurs among birds naturally, it is encouraged that one should not get too close to birds so as to reduce the possibility of affecting Bird Flu. Individuals should also constantly keep updated of the Bird Flu news. Moreover, they are also to encourage having the knowledge of the measures against Bird Flu from the net, magazines and news so that they won’t be that lost when there is a sudden outbreak of Bird Flu in their country.

Precautions should also be taken by the government. Government should educate their citizens about how bird flu is being passed on and also how to prevent from affecting it. Stocking up vaccines is very important too. Government should ensure that there is sufficient vaccination for the people and also do planning so as not to be that panic when there is an outbreak.

In conclusion, both individuals and the government should cooperate and take the measures seriously so as to prevent an outbreak. It would be very serious if the situation is not controlled properly. Having practicing these precautions, everyone would be safe and healthy and be free from illnesses and diseases.
